Compare DDP shipping quotes from China using the same cargo facts, importer setup, duties and tax scope, delivery terms, exclusions and exception charges.

A useful DDP quote should identify the actual goods, chargeable-weight rule, named destination, importer and customs arrangement, duties and tax treatment, final-delivery scope, exclusions, validity period and the owner of exception costs. Compare every provider using the same shipment facts; a headline rate alone is not comparable.
01. Are all providers quoting the same shipment?
Use one written cargo profile: product description, materials and intended use; commercial value; origin city; destination country and postcode; carton count; packed dimensions; gross weight; batteries or other regulated characteristics; ready date; and expected order volume.

02. How is chargeable weight calculated?
Ask for the actual-weight and volumetric-weight comparison, the divisor used by the proposed route, any minimum charge and the rule applied when cartons change after quotation.

03. Who handles import clearance and importer responsibilities?
DDP allocates import clearance, duties and applicable import taxes to the seller, but the operational setup still needs to be workable in the destination country. Ask who will appear in the import arrangement, which broker or representative is involved and what records the seller receives.

04. Are duties and taxes actually included?
Ask how classification, origin, declared value and destination rules were used. If a quoted total appears inconsistent with the goods or current import rules, request the assumptions and obtain qualified customs advice before booking.

05. What is included after customs release?

06. What can change the final cost?

Questions behind the headline rate
Why can two DDP quotes for the same shipment be very different?
They may use different chargeable-weight rules, route types, importer arrangements, classifications, declared values, duty and tax assumptions, delivery conditions or exclusions. Requote both providers from one written cargo profile, then compare each cost and responsibility line rather than the total alone.
Does DDP mean the buyer will never see another charge?
DDP places import clearance, duties and applicable import taxes on the seller in the sale contract. It does not automatically include later changes or extra logistics work such as address corrections, inspection handling, storage, failed delivery or returns. Those events need a separate written charge basis.
Should a forwarder provide a line-by-line cost breakdown?
